From classroom to Parliament. Art student’s work shared during Nuclear Week

Aven Villardefranco, a gifted art student at the college, won a competition to have their artwork distributed to MPs, industry leaders and stakeholders during Nuclear Week in Parliament (NWiP), taking place between January 19-21. The front of the winning postcard features a vibrant ‘Greetings from Hartlepool’ message, alongside artistic impressions of some of the town's most iconic landmarks, such as Ward Jackson Park, Hartlepool Art Gallery and the historic Headland.

When Ligia Andrea Salinas Rivera reflected on the moment she contemplated her future career path after deciding to change course, she explained: “I was crying because I didn’t know what to do.” Having arrived in England from El Salvador just four years ago with limited English, the prospect of tackling an engineering course seemed daunting - especially after being warned it was “all maths."
